What to expect after the vulvar biopsy?
Most patients report mild bleeding after the procedure, this is normal. If you experience heavy bleeding, you should contact your provider’s office. It is also common for some patients to feel discomfort around the biopsy area, this can usually be treated with over-the-counter pain medications like Tylenol or ibuprofen or by using a cold pack.
There will be a small wound left after the vulvar biopsy. Please keep the area clean and dry so there is no infection. Some signs of infection to look out for include the area becoming more painful, swollen, and hot to the touch. Report these symptoms to your provider as well as any oozing or discharge.
